E*ECAD Granted Strategic Technology Patent

E*ECAD, Inc. announced today that it has been granted a patent of strategic importance to its core business of software licensing methods over the internet.

US Patent No. 6,834,342 granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office has broad claims related to the secure means of communication over the internet, a strategic building block in online software license rights management.

"As this patent clearly demonstrates, E*ECAD remains committed to innovation in the field of online license management to ensure that end users have the flexibility they need in software licensing options," said Dr. Ivan Pesic, President and CEO of E*ECAD.

Funded by Silvaco in the year 2000, E*ECAD pioneered the field of online short term rental of EDA software when it introduced its Pay-Per-Hour model. This model allows end users to pay for only the exact period of time during which they use EDA software. It has since grown to offer software from seventeen different EDA vendors.

The latest offering from E*ECAD, a service dubbed EDA On-Demand (www.edaondemand.com), offers daily and monthly lease of EDA software. It shows the latest use by E*ECAD (www.eecad.com) of the technology protected by the newly granted patent.
